Starting a new Plaidy read...
I've just opened up Light on Lucrezia and am actually on the first chapter. So far, not knowing that much about Lucrezia herself (except that she's from an incredibly horrible family..)I'm curious to see how this one turns out. I know there's mostly negative stuff written about her by other authors. But after reading Plaidy's foreword where she talks about seeing Lucrezia from another perspective- well, that kind of got me very interested. Isn't that so very Plaidy-like to capture the reader even before the book is even opened...

I read a book where Lucrezia was portrayed more as sinned against than the sinner! it was a good and a different perspective of someone with such a chequered history.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the first book, Madonna of the Seven Hills, today. I was annoyed that my Barnes and Noble didn't have the reissue--I was expecting it to be right there with the other Plaidys!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you think! I am in full-out Borgia mode gearing up for the Showtime series. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just finished this one last week - I think it's a good place to begin if you aren't overly familiar with the family since Plaidy is easy to read and she doesn't overly complicate things.
ReplyDeleteI just got the new reprint for this one and can not wait to get into it. Glad to see your on Plaidy.
ReplyDeleteI hope to get the new reprints this weekend :) I haven't read anything of Lucrezia yet.
ReplyDeleteI've just bought Madonna of the Seven Hills on Kindle. Am really looking forward to reading it. I've just taught a class on Lucrezia so I'm interested to see what Plaidy does with her.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Jean Plaidy for years although I was avid reader in the 70s. I think it's time to re-read them.
