How much?

How much would you pay for a rare Plaidy novel? I think I would go up to $100, if it were for my birthday or Christmas. Searching amazon I found one under the pseudonym Elbur Ford for..........

$1,046.73

Are they serious??? Wow. Here's the link.

  1. Wow! That's one for the serious collectors isn't it! I can't imagine paying more than $100 for a book.

  3. Hellll no...
I know that I would require a LOT more information , a lot more photos, and close ups, and a zillion more details and see it in person before I spend over $100 let alone $1000!! I love Plaidy and all of her other works, but when I think of how many weeks of daycare that would pay for, or groceries.. then reality sets in. I think I have paid about $15 as the highest price for a Plaidy novel. Considering I have about 60 Plaidy novels I think I have spent enough $ already!

  4. If I paid that much for a book I think I would seriously have to have my head examined. The most I have paid for a Plaidy is $40 - for an old Book Club/Robert Hale 3-in-1 version of her Isabella and Ferdinand series. But since in reality it is three books, I didn't feel so bad about it (it was also before the UK started re-issuing her books).

  7. That is nuts!!! I do the same thing Marie said...equate that amount out to groceries and bus fare, and it just seems ridiculous! But then again there are plenty of women out there who would spend that amount on a handbag, so why not a rare book? Either way, that is quite far out of my price range, handbag OR book!
